Sakura Matsuri is a major event on Cowra’s tourism calendar, celebrating the birth of spring. It attracts performers from across Australia and around the world. Locals, Australian and International visitors alike have the opportunity to experience traditional elements of Japanese culture. Sakura at the Cowra Japanese Garden is celebrated annually in September when the cherry blossoms are at their peak. The cherry blossoms usually continue to flower up until Mid October.

The main event of the festival, Sakura Matsuri Family Day at the Japanese Garden will be held from 10-4pm Saturday 22nd  September with activities ranging from Traditional Tea Ceremony, Bonsai demonstrations, wood block printing, Shibori demonstrations, food stalls and so much more!

A martial arts stage will hold demonstrations of Karate, Sumo Wrestling, and Aikido whilst the Cultural Stage includes performances from Soprano Misako Piper, Taiko Drummers, Sydney Soran Dance Troup, Sydney Sakura Choir, Torsion Youth Choreographic Ensemble and The String Family Quartet.

Tickets for the festival are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $15 children or a family pass $60 and are available on the day.
